PPPM Graduate Students,

We realize these are difficult and stressful times due to the economic repercussions from the COVID-19 crisis. We know that some of you are facing a difficult financial situation for reasons such as:

  • The loss of a GE position in another unit on campus as a result of funding cuts
  • The loss of a job as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic
  • The loss of financial support as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic

The School of PPPM has appointed a Student Support Task Force with the purpose of:

  • Understanding more about PPPM student needs
  • Gathering information about opportunities across campus and sharing them
  • To the extent possible, working individually with students who request it

Neither the Task Force nor the School of PPPM currently has additional positions or funding to offer. Our role at this point is to gather information and share it. The members of the committee are currently: Rich Margerum, Dyana Mason, Bob Choquette, Rebecca Lewis and Julie Voelker-Morris. We are starting with two steps to gather information

Feedback via Qualtrics

To get a better understanding of student needs as a result of the COVID-19 crisis, we are requesting feedback about your current situation, needs, and questions. We realize it may be difficult to share this information so we are allowing you to submit it anonymously. This information will also help us make a case to UO administrators for potential support. If you would like to work with an individual member of the Task Force you can identify yourself in the survey. If you are not sure, you can submit anonymous information now and a request an individual Task Force member later. Please follow this link: Student Support Qualtrics Form

PPPM Town Hall

We  hoted a Town Hall on Monday, April 20 to hear your concerns. We answered questions you submitted via the Qualtrics form and have created a Student Support Q&A that we will continue to update with your questions. We may host additional town halls if there is interest. We have posted a recording of the April 20 Town Hall (42 min.)

PPPM Graduate Student Career Conversations

Monday mornings, 11am-Noon during Spring 2020, Julie is hosting peer-led “Career Conversations” for PPPM graduate students. Students should make use of this space and time in ways that are most beneficial to them.  Drop-in to informally connect with your peers and ask questions, build community and make connections.  We can discuss planning for your future, struggles or challenges you have encountered, strategies for transferring skills, fun activities, highly specific or very broad questions, share our pets, etc. Contact Julie directly at for the appropriate video chat link.
