International Student Resources

International students may remain enrolled in UO classes if they are taking courses from their home country. Some rules around residency and part-time/full-time enrollment status have been suspended.  Students can refer to the links below, or contact the Office of International Students and Scholar Services at 541-346-3206, or intl@uregon.edu for support.

One thing to mention, OPT (Optional Practical Training) is only available to those students who are in the U.S. during their final term and you must be in the U.S. to apply for OPT.  More information on financial support and immigration, visa and enrollment questions are below.

International Students completing their degree in June
From ISSS:
Students finishing their degrees have several options: 1) they have a 60-day grace period to remain in the U.S. legally after graduation; 2) they can apply for OPT which extends their visa status for one additional year; 3) they can transfer to another institution and another program; 4) they can apply for admission to another program at the UO. If none of these options works, and they still cannot leave the U.S., we are advising students to contact our office so we can make note of their situation in our records and advise them accordingly.

International graduate students are encouraged to contact Julie Voelker-Morris (jvoelker@uoregon.edu) about work/internship opportunities. Undergraduate students are encouraged to contact Jessica Matthiesen (jessicam@uoregon.edu).
