It’s that time of year again and, unfortunately, we have a very abridged timeline. We will need to identify which proposals we’d like to pursue during this meeting on the 9th and then draft the proposal(s) to meet the deadline of 1/17. To facilitate this, can you each chat as a subfield to think about possible searches you’d want to pursue?
This year CAS has two options for searches. One is a standard search based on departmental needs. Here is the information that CAS just emailed.
This year, there are two types of IHP proposals–standard and Oregon Rising proposals.
Standard proposals should align with department and college-level needs and priorities as they have in past years. Oregon Rising proposals must address one of the Oregon Rising signature scholarship areas–Environmental Resilience, Youth Behavioral and Mental Health, Human Performance and Sport, or Accelerating Innovation and Scientific Impact. As you consider submitting an IHP proposal, I encourage you to consult with your divisional associate dean. Be assured that all proposals will receive the same consideration and that we will work with departments to make sure that proposals are appropriately and strategically submitted.
The guidelines for submitting a proposal are below. Please read these carefully.
* All IHP proposals this year must be submitted using the attached 2025 CAS IHP Proposal Template. Proposals should not exceed three pages in length. Please title your file YOUR DEPT NAME 2025-26 IHP Proposal(s).
* Oregon Rising proposals, should you choose to submit one, use the 2025 Oregon Rising IHP Proposal Template. Brevity is appreciated. Please title your file YOUR DEPT NAME 2025-26 OR Proposal(s).
* Complete also the attached Excel IHP Proposal Spreadsheet with information about both Standard IHPs (tab 1) and Oregon Rising proposals (tab 2). If you submit more than one proposal, enter one search per row and place them in ranked order. Title your file YOUR DEPT NAME 2025-26 IHP Proposal Spreadsheet.
* Email your IHP proposal(s) and spreadsheet to your divisional associate dean, copying casfacultyaffairs@uoregon.edu by Friday, January 17th .
The most compelling proposals will clearly describe how the position advances the department’s research and scholarship mission, meets current curricular needs and grows areas of demonstrated student interest, and contributes to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the department and college. They will also be supported by reference to institutional metrics, including both operational metrics and mission metrics.
IHP proposals from departments are due to CAS no later than Friday, January 17th. As in previous years, all proposals will be reviewed by the DAC and the CAS leadership team. CAS will submit its final ranked IHP recommendations to the Office of the Provost by the due date February 28th.
