The People’s Law School is a revival of the original People’s Law School founded in 1972 by law students at the University of Oregon School of Law. While technology and rules of law have drastically changed, the founding principles of the People’s Law School remain steadfast and unchanged.
“To bridge the gap between the University of Oregon School of Law and the greater Eugene community through legal education and civic engagement”
Our mission relies on three basic principles:
- Everyone should have the resources and ability to understand the complex set of laws that govern day-to-day life
- Everyone should have a general understanding of the U.S. legal system
- No one should be mystified by the law or intimidated by the judges and attorneys who represent the legal system
