AAD 610 Brand Awareness

fender logo

As a guitar player, this logo has been imprinted in my mind as long as I have been playing the instrument. This simple design mirrors the classic simplicity of Fender guitars and can be manipulated on a variety of mediums. This logo is as effective on the headstock of a guitar as it is on a t-shirt or a bumper sticker.

The unique font is instantly recognizable from a distance and is postulated to have derived from Leo Fender’s own signature. This logo is found in a variety of colors and the texture of the fill has been modified only slightly through the years.

Nearing its 70th year, the Fender logo is indelibly woven in to the fabric of American popular music and, like many logos, has come to symbolize much more than the brand itself.

burtsbees logo

This famous logo particularly struck my interest after watching “Burt’s Buzz”. This documentary takes an intimate look at the co-founder of Burt’s Bees, Burt Shavitz, whose face is used as the company’s logo. Burt’s face has a pencil sketched, rustic quality that speaks to the organic, “earth friendly” vibe of the product.

The surrounding honeycomb outline provides a welcoming contrast as the lighter color of the border enhances the dark, rustic texture of Burt’s face. The bees are cleverly positioned near Burt’s ears, as if in conversation.

The red text of the company’s name also provides a good contrast to the dark texture of the center. The slogan “Earth Friendly Natural Personal Care Products” is appropriately black and in italics as it mirrors the dark, rustic vibe of Burt’s image.

patagonia-small-logo

As an outdoor enthusiast, I have purchased Patagonia gear for its high quality and performance in outdoor conditions. This logo has a way of inspiring and promising adventure, especially when looking at the logo when stuck indoors!

The position of the text in all lowercase at the bottom of the logo complements the jagged contour of the mountain range. The late evening depiction of the sky with its blue background and waves of orange and purple provide a stark contrast to the black of the text and mountain range image. The white outline of the mountain range enhances its jagged contour. It also infers that the mountains are at a high elevation as there is snow on the ridgeline.
