The Power of Education. John Washington, John “Bubba” Washington has over 28 years of experience as an entrepreneur and community advocate. His work titles include equity facilitator, intervention specialist, land use developer, social service provider, community activist, small business consultant and national publisher, editor and television producer; you would maybe think he was just born with it. The truth is that Mr. Washington is one of those rare individuals you meet in life who has come full circle. Born onto the mean streets of Patterson, New Jersey, he rose through the ashes and rubble of those streets that claimed many of his family, friends and neighbors, to become a powerhouse of inspiration and encouragement. He attended Rutgers University where he was an All-American football player. With the death of his father through substance abuse related illness, Mr. Washington was led to pursue addiction studies at Washington State University and Evergreen University.  After graduation, he set up his practice in Oregon; and he realized his dream of making an impact in the field of addiction recovery when Marion County hired him to design programming that would serve and treat historically hard-to-reach ethnic youth and families in the areas of drug, alcohol and gang intervention.  As a result, Inside Out Care was founded and successfully administered treatment based programs for targeted populations.

Realizing his passion for giving voice to and empowering people of color, he decided to enter the world of media through acquisition of Flossin Media, a full-service surround sound media and marketing production company. Flossin Media publishes a successful quarterly, Flossin Magazine – an inspirational, motivational and educational publication that highlights formulas for success and reaches out through the digital realm via Flossin TV. Through the provision of culturally specific media production and marketing outreach services, his editorials and content have garnered relationships locally and nationally, including with companies such as Comcast, BET and MTV.  He currently serves his community by advocating for small businesses and youth entrepreneurs as the Vice Chair of the North/Northeast Business Association and is a proud member of the Most Honorable Prince Hall Masons and Coalition of Black Men. He is the father of 4 children and has been a foster parent to over 24 young people over the course of the past 20 years, many who still refer to him as “Pops” to this day.
