In 2023 my business partner Aliyah Garcia and I created a vintage brand, Lucky7vintagee. The idea started in 2022; I began selling my clothes on Depop simply because I needed to get rid of stuff and could use the extra cash. I began to see a lot of success doing this, I then started sourcing clothes specifically to sell on my Depop and saw even more success. I reached out to Garcia about my success and helped her start her own Depop, where she, too, saw success. Then, in 2023, we attended our first pop-up event in collaboration with Portland Vintage Market. After this pop-up, we knew there was a market for this in our community, so we joined forces and came up with Lucky7vintagee.
Since then, we have participated in six pop-up events held by Portland Vintage Market and Downtown Flea, one Thrift Haven pop-up event, two pop up events with Tracktown exchange, and were vendors at Thrift Con 2023 in Portland, Oregon. These pop-up events gave me a lot of experience with the vintage community, and I have gained many skills.
In late 2023, Aliyah and I were offered a position at a vintage collective to sell our curated vintage in a more permanent spot. We jumped at the opportunity and are now going on our third month of having Lucky7vintagee in stores. This experience has taught me a lot about the business aspect behind vintage clothes and made me fall in love with the community even more.
As of now we still reside in Shop Pvm, a vintage collective in Portland Oregon as well as continuing to do pop-up events, Lucky7vintagee will also be attending Thrift Con 2024.
I help manage and run Lucky7vintagee’s Depop and social media. Making content for Depop, Tiktok, and Instagram has been a lot of fun. Learning how to promote a business and incorporate social media trends has been an amazing skill to learn. I am excited to continue to grow Lucky7vintagee into an even bigger brand.
