ALL Debate
The institute offers instruction in all major types of debate: policy, parliamentary, Lincoln-Douglas, and public forum. The institute features daily issue lectures as well as lectures on debate structure and strategy. Lab leaders are nationally renowned college coaches and debaters. There is a camp tournament at the two week point as well as daily practice.

Mock trial
The mock trial institute is the first in the Pacific Northwest and features advanced instruction in both the legal and performative dimensions of mock trial success. UO law faculty, judges, and local attorneys are integrated into a curriculum that also includes daily labs with members of Oregon’s nationally-competitive mock trial team. Students end the institute with a friendly tournament in order to test themselves as attorneys or witnesses. Students will learn the fine arts of effective opening and closing statements, how to plan and effective theory of the case and solicit useful testimony on direct and cross examination.

Individual Events
These individualized study programs will be a one week intensive session that will leave students more confident in their public speaking and knowledge of the world around them. Students will prepare a set of individual event speeches for the season as well as get some lectures on fundamental public speaking habits from university public speaking teachers and nationally recognized IE coaches and competitors.
