Meet The Authors
Our goal at Oceania Exclusive is to document our learning and understanding of events within the geographical region of Oceania. Not only do we do this with the goal to widen our personal global perspectives, but also to inspire others to take initiative and seek out their own worldly knowledge.
Joseph Ramirez – Solomon Islands
Hi! My name is Joseph Ramirez, and I am a freshman here at the University of Oregon. I am majoring in marine biology, and am partaking in the Global Engagement program because I have a deep-rooted desire to understand. Foreign language and culture has always piqued my interest, and I think studying things like these is a positive step towards more harmony and understanding throughout the world. Many problems in both the past and present have been caused by ignorance and misunderstanding, and I see the Global Engagement Program as a way to help halt the pattern.
Elisabeth Frauenfelder – New Zealand
My name is Elisabeth Frauenfelder. I am a Chinese-Swiss-American, Third Culture Kid (TCK) that grew up between China and the United States. Growing up as a TCK and frequently traveling around Asia, I have gotten to understand the world through a Global Lense. Through traveling to different countries around Asia, including both developed and less developed countries. These created a need to understand and want to make change within our world through learning about the UN sustainable development goals, this has taught me about the world and why we need to support and advocate with those in need.
F. Scott Wagner – Australia
Hello! My name is F. Scott Wagner, and I am covering Australian news and events. My major is undecided, but I have distinct interests in the human mind and how it thinks. I hope to create a concise look into Australian life as it occurs to give a better view of the lifestyle of another nation, successes, failures, and all.
Rowan Lance – Republic of Vanuatu
Hi! My name is Rowan Lance and I am from Medford Oregon. I’m a freshman at UO with plans to major in global studies. I chose this path because I love to travel but I also came to realize the societal bubble living in one town my whole life has formed. I want to expand my worldview in order to understand the true complexities of the events going on around me. In the future I want to work for the US state department and help to mediate problems of the world that go above land borders. On this blog I will be documenting and discussing my experience studying the Republic of Vanuatu. I hope you as readers will enjoy following along in my studies as I take my first steps of many towards responsible global understanding.
