Vanuatu’s Struggles

Like all modern-day countries Vanuatu has, and still does face its fair share of problems (particularly in reference to rising oceans due to global warming). No country is perfect, and I could spend hours dissecting the minute struggles of Vanuatu’s government, yet from a wider global perspective Vanuatu is far from the worst place to be. In fact, in reference to Vanuatu wellbeing surveys its general inhabitants are satisfied with life. Economically though there are some struggles throughout the general population, The country as a whole is not overtly struggling.

Vanuatu is in a similar position regarding human rights. They do face some struggles particularly in regards to domestic violence against women and treatment of seasonal workers. Yet they are not going through a particular crisis. A lot of this is thanks to their participation in the UN and reasonably written constitution. In fact, Vanuatu is an ally to West Papua and has, with the help of other UN members, petitioned the UN to investigate human rights violations occurring in Papua New Guinea. In conclusion from an outside global perspective Vanuatu seems to provide a stable base for its citizens, that is not to say that they don’t face their fair share of struggles, rather it is simply that currently Vanuatu is not in any particular form of crisis
