Impact of War, Australia

The unfortunate beginning of the war between Russia and Ukraine leads an international condemnation towards Russia’s attack. The effect of this would become sanctions on many Russian goods to influence their assault in an attempt to prevent it from further becoming worse. Due to Russia being a good source of trade this would mean economic impacts toward the nations who are often trade with Russia means a higher cost in goods.

A major source of this trade that effects Australia is in its trade for oil. Being the third major trade center for gas in the world makes sanctions cause the cost of oil and therefore gas significantly higher.

This impact on the nation is clearly seen at the most obvious portion of an automobile centric society. Cars, trains, and other gas-powered vehicles see this inflation of cost most evidently as the working class would need to pay the price to get to and from their work.

Outside of the common workingman factories and power plants need to spend more in order to remain running. The same effects that occur for many nations globally as the sanctions continue, making gas prices either continue to rise or maintain their current cost. Already Australia’s gas prices were unsustainable with each gigajoule of energy produced by gas costing around 8 to 10 dollars. With this issue being as prevalent as it is they look to better energy sources to utilize in the future.
