Instructor or Assistant Professor of Media Production at Saint Louis University

Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service, is seeking applicants for a non-tenure-track position in media production. We are seeking a candidate with expertise in creative non-fiction storytelling and multimedia production, who also can oversee studio production and postproduction. The position is at the instructor or assistant professor level in the Department of Communication, to begin in Fall 2018.
Duties include a 4/4 teaching load that will include video production and media writing classes (e.g., Video Production and Design, Studio Production, Media Scriptwriting) as well as courses in the department’s undergraduate core (e.g., Media Lab). A course release each year is provided for service as the coordinator of the communication studio.

Requirements:
-Earned master’s or MFA degree by August 1, 2018

-Documented teaching experience and excellence or evidence of excellent teaching potential
–Experience supervising and mentoring students working on multimedia projects or evidence of potential to supervise and mentor students and their projects
-Demonstrated mastery of various editing software and Adobe Creative Suite
-Additional consideration will be given to individuals who also have a record of professional experience in multimedia production, broadcast or another related field
Communication is a thriving department in the College of Arts and Sciences, with 170 undergraduate majors, 20 minors, 20 M.A. students, and 14 full-time faculty members. We have an undergraduate curriculum that stresses both the theoretical understanding and professional application of communication research within three different concentrations: advertising and public relations; communication studies; and journalism and media studies. We stress proficiency in production/technology across our curriculum. We also emphasize cultural competence and ethical reflection. Our master’s program includes courses in the areas of media studies, strategic communication, and communication studies. The department has a Communication Media Center, Studio Production Suite, and several computer labs to support student learning related to technology and production.

Summary of Position and Key Responsibilities
The University of Central Asia is seeking a senior Faculty Member in Communications and Media to teach at UCA’s two campuses in Naryn Campus in Kyrgyz Republic and Khorog Campus in Tajikistan. In your role as Faculty Member, you will be dedicated to shaping the Communications and Media curriculum, helping students appreciate and develop an interdisciplinary approach to the field of media and communications, primarily grounded in the social sciences and also open to humanities perspectives. Applicants should demonstrate research excellence and a commitment to developing critical ways to conceptualise and research empirically the relationships between media and communications technologies and the social world with particular reference to strategic communication challenges faced by individuals and organizations.

Central to the vision of UCA is to create an outstanding teaching and research institution that excels in the generation and application of knowledge. Academic programmes combine the student-centred environment of a liberal arts college with the intellectual excitement of being at the frontiers of knowledge offered by a research university. Programme Description
UCA’s Communications and Media programme offers a unique integrated approach that includes communications theory, media studies, journalism and applied media. The programme mirrors current trends in the study and practice of media communications. Students will be equipped with a strong foundation in both theory and practical skills desired by media industries, including journalism, public relations, advertising, marketing communications, multi-media design, media production, media law and management. They will acquire skills in writing and critical thinking, as well as knowledge in media law, ethics and the political, economic, cultural and social character of Central Asian societies.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Minimum Qualifications
PhD or equivalent from an internationally recognised university in Communications &/or equivalent experience in the field
Fluency in English is required

Teaching Experience
A demonstrated commitment to teaching and students; preferably at least 3 years of experience at the undergraduate level
Demonstrated understanding of teaching, i.e. developing new and interesting courses grounded in a discipline area and interdisciplinary in nature
Experience using innovative teaching methods and evaluation methodologies
Experience in developing and delivering training modules to teachers, tutors and mentors
Experience in some form of leadership involving students, faculty and staff, i.e. managing faculty (department lead or chair), student research projects and/or theses
Experience in teaching in Central Asia would be a valuable asset
Some technical skills related to media production would be an asset.

Research Experience
A proven ability to publish research in peer reviewed journals related to your areas of expertise
Regular attendance and experience with presenting at international conferences
Experience in conducting research in Central Asia would be a valuable asset

Timing and Location
You should be prepared to move to Central Asia by May/June 2018 or earlier for acculturation and to prepare for teaching.
Your position will be based in Naryn, Kyrgyz Republic, but you may also teach classes at the Khorog campus in Tajikistan. Regional travel is to be expected.

Language
Knowledge of Russian would be an advantage

Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Digital Humanities
The University of Hong Kong

Digital Humanities (DH) is a nascent field of academic scholarship that has arisen as an extension to the knowledge, skills, methods and tools traditionally used in the study of humanities. DH contributes to contemporary humanities scholarship through new modes of knowledge creation enabled by computational tools, methodologies and networked, digital environments. It is collaborative and transdisciplinary in nature, building on the foundational concepts and tools in information, technology, media and communication, with design as an integral part of its “intellectual method”.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in information management, digital humanities, or one of the core-humanities/social science disciplines such as linguistics and sociology. They should have demonstrated experience with digital humanities tools and methodologies, a strong commitment in addressing social and behavioral science related questions, as well as interest in developing pedagogical and e-learning programs for students across the campus, particularly for Common Core Courses at undergraduate level. The appointee will be expected to (i) offer courses on human development through the lens of digital humanity; (ii) contribute to interdisciplinary/cross-Faculty research in digital citizenship; (iii) develop an e-learning infrastructure and pedagogical designs so that students in different programmes can be given the opportunities to master DH methods for creative expressions in diverse cross-media platforms; (iv) supervise postgraduate research students; (v) engage in knowledge exchange initiatives involving DH; and (vi) take up administrative duties as required.

Assistant Professor, Information & Communication Technologies

The University of Wisconsin-Stout invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), to teach courses supporting the B.S./M.S. ICT program. Faculty also engage in interdisciplinary endeavors with campus colleagues and maintain partnerships with industry. Anticipated start date is August 20, 2018.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, especially those supporting the M.S. and B.S. in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) programs and other departmental courses. Research and service to the university and the ICT profession. The full-time teaching load is 12 credits per semester.

Other responsibilities include: Teaching with tools that facilitate online and face-to-face learning environments; interaction with ICT faculty and industry partners; continuous learning and development in the ICT field; advising undergraduate and graduate students; engagement in course and program assessment of student learning; fostering cultural diversity and global awareness.
