ChinaVine Friday Forum

Friday, February 21, 2014, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Lawrence Hall, Room 249

We invite you to join Doug Blandy for a luncheon presentation on his research into international arts engagement through the ChinaVine project.  ChinaVine seeks to build partnerships through the documentation of contemporary and traditional Chinese cultural heritage.  ChinaVine’s mission is to educate English-speaking children, youth, and adults about China’s cultural heritage. This mission is achieved through the use of an interactive website along with a variety of social media platforms.

The research presentation begins with an overview of ChinaVine covering the interactive website, Creative Commons licensing, communication and outreach via social media, and examples of published work. These work samples include results of recent expeditions, such as the May 2012 trip to Dali in Yunnan province, P.R. China, where the ChinaVine team documented the Rao San Ling Festival and the Bai ethnic minority population inhabiting the region.
