Introduction
In my comic, Over and Over Again, the main theme in the story is about the repetitive cycle that can be seen when someone’s mental health isn’t doing well. I do my best to demonstrate the ups and downs, changes one goes through, and the feeling of being stuck where it seems like these negative times will never end, until the last page where someone finally reaches a point where they feel like they can reach out and ask for help. When reading my comic, I just hope the reader can understand what is going on and the feelings one may have to face when going through a hard time and the repetitive cycle that never seems to end. While taking the ENG 280 course, I noticed some of the unique panels and page layouts which inspired some of the designs in my own comic. I remembered when reading Charles Hatfield’s “An Art of Tensions” essay and seeing the different comics he analyzed where Jason Lutes’ Jar of Fools page layouts stuck with me where there were two rows of four panels of closeups of characters. I incorporated a layout similar to this on page three of Over and Over Again.
