Introduction

My comic book is about a personified version of the earth which explains the real-world struggles which the earth is facing right now. Earth is then joined by a young woman named Sophie who explains how the fight to save the earth is not a lost cause, and how there are steps that we as individuals can take to secure a better future. I hope the reader walks away from this comic with a new perspective on the environmental issues which we are facing, and hopefully a new drive to help fight against these issues. The central things I learned from ENG 280 which helped me in this comic were the discussions of sequencing and page layout. A large point which we touched upon in that class was non-traditional paneling, which I tried to incorporate into my comic to keep it engaging and to reinforce ideas visually as opposed to verbally. An example of this can be seen on the third page, in which the cityscape panel looks as if it’s engulfing the earth. I hope you enjoy my comic, thank you.
