In Between Portland and Iran
Shabnam Razeghian Jahromi, a 35-year-old Iranian woman, had always dreamed of coming to the United States. After her fifth visa denial, she secured an F-1 student visa in 2011 and arrived in America at the end of that year. Maybe Portland is her lucky city or six is her lucky number. She started her Ph.D. program in computer engineering at Portland State University. She now works at Jama Software’s Portland headquarters as a software engineer.
