Creativity

Creative ThoughtCreativity was an interesting and slightly challenging thought to research. As there are many creative people across the University of Oregon campus and across the globe I felt the creative thought had to be included in my list of thoughts the player could photograph. However science does not yet know exactly what the creative thought looks like in neuroimaging so there is not a lot of research on how it occurs in the brain.

Research:
Certain areas spread out across the cerebral cortex of the brain are responsible for higher thinking and intelligent thought. These higher thinking “hot spots” overlap with many processes, one of which is what we believe to be creativity. We do not know the exact process of creativity in the brain at this time, however we do know that creative thought differs from many other types of learning and brain activity. Several studies have shown that creativity stems from a similar process as the learning new ideas and knowledge and that creativity cannot occur without the ability to learn new ideas.

Design:

The design for creativity was to portray the most basic of elements like color and shape to allow the brain to make what it wanted out of the image. I wanted to show what might be the spark of creativity without being representative of what that spark might turn into.
