MOCCA

MOCCA is a unique diagnostic assessment of reading comprehension. It identifies students who comprehend text poorly and why. Through the use of informative “distractors,” MOCCA helps educators understand how students are approaching comprehending texts as they read. This information can help them target instruction to best support students in improving their reading comprehension. Different versions of MOCCA are available for students in Grades 3-6 and in college. The Grade 3-6 MOCCA has both fixed-length and computer-adaptive-testing (CAT) versions; the CAT reduces testing time. Both the college and CAT versions are actively being researched. Learn more about specific MOCCA versions and opportunities to participate in our research by clicking a user type above. Additional information about the MOCCA research and instructional relevance are also available under Resources.
