Volunteer Spotlight
Mary Smith
- How long have you been volunteering with the museum? I have been volunteering since 2006!
- What’s your favorite part of being a volunteer? I have two favorite things. Number one is that I get to learn about all kinds of things. I love that! The second thing is that I really enjoy talking with people, sharing all of the amazing things in the museum, and also, just chatting with people from all walks of life.
- Why do you think others should volunteer at the museum? They would get to work with some pretty amazing people, they would have a chance to learn about the natural and cultural history of our state, and it’s FUN!
- Do you have a favorite interaction with a museum guest? I cant think of any one guest, but I do love the people who ask questions and want to learn more. I even like the questions that I cannot answer, because, then, I have to learn something new!
- What is your favorite thing at the museum? The people who work there, the sloth, the spike tooth salmon and the first horse!
Come by the museum at 2:00 p.m. most Fridays and Sundays to catch Mary’s Walk & Talk through the Explore Oregon exhibit.
