“The energy and action for positive change is there. When we show where and how that’s happening, perhaps even more people can be inspired to make that change. I hope that we’ve done that with our story.

Michael Teylan was Co-Director of the University of Oregon’s Kultura Pilipinas for two years from 2016 to 2018, growing the club from 10 members during their first meeting of 2016, to hosting two cultural showcase shows, each having over 200 people in attendance. Teylan also worked in UO’s University Housing for two years as a Resident Assistant.

During his time at the UO’s School of Journalism and Communication (SOJC), Teylan has focused his efforts on profiles and features. He most recently has worked on pieces about issues such as social media usage and immigration.

Teylan will graduate from the UO SOJC in June 2019 with a B.A. in Journalism and a minor in Japanese language and culture. Post-graduation, Teylan  will find a job either in the video game media or for a local newspaper.
