Gina Scalpone

“The #MeToo movement started as a way for people to come together and support each other in trauma, but the media coverage often focused on the perpetrators of that trauma. Solutions journalism can bring the focus back to survivors and show people that solutions are out there. Our story is just one small part of it.”

Gina Scalpone is the crime and courts reporter for the Daily Emerald, the University of Oregon independent student newspaper. She is also a student reporter for the a Catalyst Journalism Project, a University of Oregon School of Journalism initiative to bring investigative reporting and solutions journalism together.

Scalpone will graduate with a post-baccalaureate journalism degree in 2020. She previously graduated with a political science degree from the University of Oregon in 2014.
