Disney!

Disneyland has always been one of my favorite places at home, so getting to go in Paris was a dream come true! I was really excited to see how everything would be the same but still so different because it is in French. I was also really looking forward to going to such a largely franchised place with a media literate lens on! When you are thinking about how media is being actively pushed onto you to consume, it is really interesting. You notice a lot more. Disneyland in particular has some of the craziest branding ever, because it is just so big. If you can wear it, hold it, eat it, or see it, Disney has it branded. Disney owns so many franchises that it can not only market Disney itself, but countless characters, movies, or shows. Mickey Mouse has got to be the most famous marketing strategy! Not only is it a memorable character, Disney is able to use the familiar mouse head everywhere. For example, the 30 year anniversary poster that made the 3 and 0 look like Mickey Mouse. One of my favorite things to do ever at Disneyland is search for the hidden Mickeys. All around the park, and in every ride, there are hidden Mickey Mouse heads- in rocks, treasure on the pirates ride, etc. Genius! I think Disney does a great job at marketing, and does not often do so unethically.
