Designed for Portland Beekeeper story

This is a magazine cover I designed for a story about Beekeepers. I chose a large, eye-grabbing image to dominate the cover in order to catch the eyes of potential readers. I strove for continuity with the orange headline, because the color was extracted from the bees in the bottom of the frame. I carefully positioned the “3” in G3 around the bee flying through the top left of the page. I tried to keep the layout as simplistic and clean as possible, while still making it aesthetically entertaining.
