We’ve developed custom post-it notes as a way for building users to tag elements in ERC during the focus groups. The post-it notes illustrate our methods but also some of the universal techniques we will be employing. Ed Roberts Campus: A Case Study of Social Justice through Universal Design Associate Professor Kyuho Ahn, Olivia Asuncion, Shaw Kawasaki Architects and I presented this case study of the Ed Roberts Campus, Berkeley CA at the Interior Design Educator’s Council (IDEC) conference in 2017. The Ed Roberts Campus, designed by Leddy Maytum Stacy Architects houses disability rights and independent living organizations. The Secret Life of the Equitable Building: How Office Interiors Change This paper examines changes to the Equitable Building over time as documented by permit drawings. Two different aspects are examined: Changes to the building core and services in comparison to ownership patterns in the building and changes to lease spaces to determine which partition walls changed and which persisted over multiple remodels.
