When starting my cover, I looked first to my wireframe. I wanted to keep as many of the elements the same as to maintain many of the same ideas I had when I began to plan the cover. I kept the same serif font I had chosen for the headline because I liked the way it worked with the san-serif Optima font I had before as well. I liked how I had stacked the text under the headline so I kept that when adding the second line of text. Secondly, I had to focus on the image. When picking my image I wanted one that was interesting but not too busy. The one I chose worked perfectly for that and left me with plenty of black space where I could layer text. I scaled the image to fit all of the visual information needed, added an appropriate amount of copy and moved a few things around. Lastly, I updated the date to reflect the style you would see on a magazine.
