Now that we have shared so much about Mia and her work, it’s time we introduce ourselves!
Kylie is a senior visual journalist who’s winding road finally led her to something she truly loves. Having switched majors three times, her journalism skills are backed by a grounded knowledge of the world and how it functions. Throughout her time at the UO, she’s worked on projects about bees and imposing threats, child tree climbers, Portland Disaster Relief preparation, and life after the Umpqua Community College shooting among other stories. Her most recent work focuses on the Marshallese community in Portland and its cultural ties to the disappearing Marshall Islands.
Sutton is also a senior visual journalist ready to take on the world, but not without a quick dance break to the newest Kendrick Lamar album. He’s been making videos since he could hold a camera and this passion is evident in every project he touches. Sutton’s documentary work includes the break dancing manifesto of a Moroccan girl, the struggles of a sheriff in SE Oregon, a restaurant owner in Cuba, and life after the April 2015 earthquake in Nepal.
Kyle is a junior producer and project manager who likes to be in the middle of the action. With an interest in writing, photography, video, design, and more–he felt the only way he could have a hand in all of it was through management, which allows him to be a part of every aspect of production. Kyle has produced print and digital magazines in Oregon and documentaries from the Pacific Northwest, Cuba, Nepal, and New Orleans.
