Welcome to the Great Basin Archaeology Lab

The Great Basin Archeology (GBA) Lab at the University of Oregon Museum of Natural and Cultural History focuses on archaeological research, education, and training. The GBA Lab is a companion to the University of Oregon archaeological field school, both directed by Dr. Katelyn McDonough. Our team at the GBA Lab explores the deep relationships between culture, climate, and technology. We specialize in holistic archaeological approaches, including museum curation practices, cultural heritage management, professional development, and diverse lab and field methodologies. Check out the related work we are doing at the Environmental Archaeology and Paleoecology Lab.

The University of Oregon is located on Kalapuya Ilihi, the traditional indigenous homeland of the Kalapuya people. Learn more about Honoring Native Peoples and Lands.
