Panopto is a good choice if you want to create asynchronous videos to deliver content via Canvas. You can pre-record short sections of your lectures (5-15 min) and add in interactive questions to promote student engagement.
See and Example of a Panopto video with embedded quizzes from UO Libraries’ Annie Zeidman-Karpinski. (more resources from Annie here.)
UO Online has online resources for using Panopto here and you can view a recording of the training session.
Adding interactive questions
Once you have recorded a video you can add “Quiz” questions (e.g. multiple choice or fill in the blank).

You can also link the quiz to a canvas assignment so you can monitor student participation and engagement.
Be aware that Panopto can take a some time to process videos. The time it takes to upload a video depends on the length of your recording, your internet speed, and how busy the Panopto server is. You can monitor the upload progress in the Manage Recordings window.
The video can also take a little time to process online before you can edit it. Be patient and try to keep videos shorter (some suggestions here: https://cft.vanderbilt.edu/guides-sub-pages/effective-educational-videos/)
However, you do not have to wait for a recording to be uploaded/processed before starting a new recording – so you could record a few shorter sections of content in a row and then make any necessary edits after they have been uploaded and processed.
