• C.R.A.P

–> C = Contrast : Contrast means make it different! In the design, it means use different font, color , typography etc to make some important things in the design more stand out , to attract more attention so can make it be remember well.

–> R = Repetition:   Repetition means show up more times, such as clip picture, important word, color, shape etc, all this repetition is to tell which part is more important to read and to highlight some elements.

–> A = Alignment:  Alignment means in typesetting, make the design more clear and neat , so can have a visual unity.

–> P = Proximity:    Proximity means put related elements in a unified section, and have several section to distinguish different elements.

  • Vector

–> Vector refers to a geometric object with both the size and the direction. Vector is usually labeled as a line with an arrow, the length of a line segment can be represented by the magnitude of the vector and the direction of the vector is the direction of the arrow.

  • Rasterize

–> Actually I don’t know much about Rasterize, so I find something on Wikipedia, here is what I found:

“Rasterization is the task of taking an image described in a vector graphics format (shapes) and converting it into a raster image (pixel or dots) for output on a video display or printer, or for storage in a bitmap file format. It refers to both rasterization of models and 2D rendering primitives such as polygons, line segments, etc. In normal usage, the term refers to the popular rendering algorithm for displaying 3D models on a computer. Rasterization is currently the most popular technique for producing real-time 3D computer graphics.”

Basic on this research, I think rasterize is a process that convert an image stored as graphic format into pixels that can be displayed on a screen or printed.

  • Opacity

–> Opacity mean the level of transparency of an image. In some tools like Photoshop Illustrator, designer can change the opacity of an image or object to make different effect of the whole design if there is an overlap of the layer and the image or object.

  • Unification

–> Unification, I can think about two aspect. One is in the design, the final effect of a business card , website or a newspaper should be uniform, which means you can have some highlight part, but the whole design should be a entirety. The other side is the designer, unification of a designer means the designer have his/her own style, it can be easily remember among other different design.
