Volunteering at Aki Matsuri:
On November 14, 2014, JSO helped out with the local Japanese immersion school, Yujin Gakuen, during their annual fundraiser, Aki Matsuri. Aki Matsuri provides the Eugene community with an opportunity to experience a depiction of a miniature Japanese festival and its activities. JSO members not only got free dinner that night, but had a good time interacting with the children participating.
“This year JSO is really focusing on building connections with the Japanese community and the different organizations of Eugene.” JSO Co-President Risa Nambo said, “Since we’re such a small organization, this experience really helped us reach out more.”
