Artist’s Talk at JSMA: Enrique Chagoya

I just wanted to draw everyone’s attention to JSMA’s upcoming Artist’s Talk with Enrique Chagoya:

ARTIST’S TALK: ENRIQUE CHAGOYA
LOCATION: 115 LAWRENCE HALL
Thu, 10/15/2015 – 6:00pm to 7:30pm
Painter and printmaker Enrique Chagoya whose provocative works incorporate diverse symbolic elements from pre-Columbian mythology, Western religious iconography, and American popular culture, leads an artist’s talk in conjunction with his JSMA exhibition Adventures of Modernist Cannibals.

JSMAC is super excited to hear about this artist and his method/process of “reverse anthropology” and “conceptual fusion of opposite cultural realities.” (Seriously, how cool is that?) If you want to get your artist on, visit Lawrence 115 tonight at 6 pm and learn more about this amazing artist and his work.

Sketchbook Collective Prompt // Word Map

We research and explore every day, especially as students. Is there a specific idea, problem, or theme that you have been thinking about often? What things have come up in your classes or activities that have really provoked your interest? What thoughts have continually been on your mind? Why has this subject or idea caught your attention? Start with a word map to explore the area of interest. What connections can you make? Create a visualization about the idea or subject. This might even help you with a research project!
