AAD 604: Internship 1

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The purpose of the Internship I, II, and III course series (winter, summer, and fall) is to support students as they gain essential work-learning experiences that will inform career goals and synthesize the academic experience. Internship I is designed to strengthen skills and increase knowledge regarding researching and applying to internship opportunities. Students will clarify work-learning goals for the internship, as well as create application materials that best represent their interests and abilities.

  • Clarify interests and skills to provide direction for the search
  • Apply results of self-assessment and guidelines provided in class to strengthen internship application documents (resume, cover letter) and to research potential internship sites
  • Explore career paths and potential internship sites, and build professional network through informational interviewing
  • Develop work-learning goals to provide direction for internship experience
  • Create on-site data collection strategy for fall presentation and assignments
