1. Where did you move from to attend the UO? And, briefly describe how you landed on the UO AAD program. Any interesting, funny, anecdotal stories/details are welcome.
I grew up in Atlanta, GA and went to Bryn Mawr College right outside Philadelphia, PA. I’ve done theatre for most of my life (non-stop since age 7), everything from acting to directing to stage managing to development. When it came time to make those senior year decisions, I knew from these opportunities that I wanted to pursue a career in theatre. Coming from a liberal arts background, I decided a masters in Arts Management would be the perfect next step in order to make sense of and expand on my professional experiences.
2. Area of concentration in AAD?
Performing Arts Management, hopefully with a certificate in New Media and Culture.
3. Describe your knowledge and use of technology systems.
I’m fairly efficient with technology. Coming from a technology-focused high school, I worked at the computing help desk for three years in undergrad and will be working at the tech desk here in AAA. I’ve also spent a lot of time designing posters and programs for various events and performances.
4. What software do you commonly use? Briefly describe purpose/application for software on your list.
I mostly do things the simple way and use Microsoft Word for graphic design, but I’ve also done plenty with Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. In regards to video editing, I am familiar with Adobe Premier and Final Cut and have spent a lot of time with those programs. I’m very heavily mac-based but would love to learn more about designing on Windows.
5. Do you have any graphic design or media production/management experience? Have you taken any graphic design or media production courses?
I taught videography courses at a local TV station in high school and have done many small graphic design projects for my college drama club.
6. Know anything about typography?
Nothing formal, no. But I am into visual arts and am eager to learn!
7. Do you use Web (2.0) apps? Name those that you use or are familiar with.
I’ve used a variety of web-based programs such as Gmail, Apple’s iCloud, Microsoft Office 365, Yahoo!Mail, dropbox, Amazon Music, etc.
8. Do you use Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Vine, Yelp, etc.)? Name those that you engage in.
I have accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, and Pinterest.
9. Tell us something unique about yourself.
Back in Atlanta, I have a super cute puppy named Reuben 🙂
