Category: Hello Class

Hey

Hey, I’m Kellen. I’m a second year Japanese student at the U of O, but I previously studied Japanese at an immersion school in elementary and middle school. I have been to Japan three times and plan on studying abroad at Hitotsubashi University next year in Western Tokyo. I love Japan!

In my free time I love to play music with my bandmates. I’m really into 90s rock music so let me know if you have any album recommendations.

Here is me and my cat Casey Jones:

Hi! My name is Kira, I’m a second year Math major and Japanese minor and currently taking 3rd year Japanese. My hobbies are dancing and playing video games. I’ve been dancing my whole life and right now I’m part of a dance club on campus. The club performs a lot on campus so I’ve been enjoying it a lot. I personally don’t really have any pets so I always love spending time with my friend’s pets. One of my friends just got a kitten and his name is Sabo (yes from one piece). He is so cute,,,

Konichiwa

Hello everyone,

My name is Kenzo Lee. I am a sophomore here at the University Oregon. I am planning on double majoring in Accounting and Japanese. I grew up speaking Japanese with my mom, but I want to improve my language skills further. I hope to learn lots in this class!!!

Some fun facts about me…. I have a grey cat at home. He is still only 6 years old, he is so kawaii.  Some of my hobbies are watching anime (my favorite has definitely got to be JJK, i love Megumi-kun), goofing off with friends hahaha, and eating yummy foods. HMU if you like these things too lol.

Let’s have a great term together and learn lots 😀

はじめまして!

Hi everyone, my name is Akira. I am 2nd architecture major and I’m minoring in Japanese. Last year, I finished JPN103.

In my free time I like to swim, ski, and play videos games. I am also a part of Ahiru Daiko, the collegiate taiko team. This winter I’m hoping to make the most of my free time. Nice to meet everyone!

はじめまして!

Hello, my name is Shae Harper. I am from China, but was adopted around the age three. I have been living in Eugene essentially my entire life. Officially to the UO, my major is East Asian Studies (with no thematic or specific country focus) with minor in Cartoon and Comic studies. I have been interested in language for quite awhile now, took Japanese in high school and during my first year of UO (Last class was 203 in Spring 2023), along with studying Mandarin at UO. Not quite definite on continuing languages. I want to explore other options such as arts. My Japanese is very rough, I’d hardly consider it understandable lol.

Take with a grain of a salt, a personality trait about me is that I will 100% join the bandwagon to gossip. I love sharing looks with friends and my coworkers about random crazy situations (side eye on another to know how we both feel in the situation) and talk about it later. It’s always a relieving feeling to know I’m not the only one who thinks a particular situation is nuts. I will choose gossip over anything else. Someone has news about someone from my high school being pregnant, or a teacher from the past turns out to be creepy and gross, or sharing mutual distain for a boss or teacher, could be anything, I will be there to chitchat about it and throw my opinion out!

Hey there

初めまして!My name is Lyn, I’m from Honolulu, and I’m currently a junior majoring in Japanese, in the linguistics intensive option. Some of my hobbies include playing video games like Minecraft, Stardew Valley, that kinda stuff. I also like watching anime, Jujutsu Kaisen is my favorite right now—I’m especially interested in all the references to Buddhism in it, and I hope to research it for real at some point.

This is my cat; his name is Kepler, he is going to turn 3 years old next month. He is a good boy. The goodest boy.

自己紹介 (Self Introduction)

Hello, my name’s Theo and I’m in my third year here at UO and I’m currently taking third year Japanese. I love to draw, play video games (mainly Mario Kart and Pokémon), and listen to music (mainly metal, and my favorite artists are Avenged Sevenfold, Bring Me The Horizon, Sleep Token, and Ice Nine Kills). I’m also autistic. I also have a cat named Minnie who is sassy but friendly.

Hi everyone!

Hi everyone, my name is John Asbury and I am in my third year of Japanese. I am a senior majoring in political science with a Japanese minor and my main areas of research are in public policy, climate change policy, and LGBTQ rights issues.

I don’t have much free time these days but some of my hobbies include hiking, rock climbing, and traveling around Oregon. I also love music and listen to a lot of it. I’ve been getting into collecting and restoring old Vinyl records so I can pretend like I can tell the difference in the quality of sound.

My housing doesn’t allow pets, but if it did then I would have a leopard gecko to show you all pictures of. Maybe someday.

Looking forward to this class!

Hello there

I’m James Vander Hoff and I’ve completed second year Japanese. My major is Popular Music Studies but I have a secondary interest in studying Japanese as many of my hobbies coincide with Japan. I only took 2 years because that was the required amount for my major, but I regret not taking the 3rd year so I’ve decided to take this course to help remedy my frustration.

Some of my favorite hobbies include jiu jitsu, table tennis, and badminton. I also enjoy listening to a variety of rock music, and playing video games like Dark Souls and Metal Gear Solid. I’ve also took an interest in Japanese samurai films after taking a class on it last term.

Nice to meet you!

Hi!

My name is Avigail Valdecantos and I am currently a senior majoring in Human Physiology and minoring in Japanese. I work part time as a lab preporator’s assistant at UO’s Chemistry and Biochemistry department and at the Panda Express in the EMU. I’m also a cardiac rehab intern at Peacehealth’s Cardiac Rehabilitation Center in Springfield.

When I have free time I like to watch movies, read, nap, and spend time with my two cats. Their names are Tabitha and Bernadette.

よろしくお願いします!
