Learning Goals- Reflection

Learning Goals from the beginning of the term:

  1. I would like to learn how to create basic advertisements and logos within Adobe illustrator, and become comfortable with the program.
  2. I would like to learn about what graphic standards are, how to create one for a business or organization, and how they can be effectively used.
  3. I would like to learn about how color theory and different design elements that can help strengthen advertisements/logos to help communicate different messages.
  4. I would like to be able to communicate with marketing and advertising departments to work collaboratively, as well being able to create my own when necessary.
  5. I would like to learn about typography and how it can be effectively used.

I definitely feel as though I have accomplished both goals one and two. I was able to learn how to proficiently use Adobe Illustrator and InDesign, and this helped me in accomplishing my second goal. In creating my final project I feel as though I learned about proper graphic standards.

I feel like I learned some about color theory in relation to design and logos, but I still feel like I could learn a lot more. Most of my knowledge I feel like is through personal feelings.

Although I haven’t been able to practice my fourth goal, I feel like this class has prepared my to do so. I feel as though I am now versed enough to be able to communicate effectively and collaboratively with marketing teams.

For typography, I feel like it is similar to my learning of color theory: I still feel like I could learn a lot more. Most of my knowledge I feel like is through personal feelings.
