Not Quite There

This week the Quack Pack met up on both Tuesday and Thursday, both meetings were pleasant to participate in, we laughed and joked and made sure to come to a consensus whenever making a decision. The only fault I find with the group is that we can get off topic for a rather long time and our meetings are getting longer and longer. Personally, I find it tiresome due to all my other time commitments. I have yet to really deal with this issue since it only really occurred this week. To combat this issue I plan on having creating an agenda prior to each meeting in part to make sure that we do not waste time and also to make sure that I do not allow myself to become resentful of Quack Pack meetings and the time spent at them. This relates back to my modeling the way action plan, I am making sure to create a structured meeting that allows everyone to work efficiently, including myself, while also enjoying the work that we are creating.

Looking at my emotional intelligence action plan I realized that I have been neglecting a crucial part of the plan, writing down questions during meetings. I typically offer to take notes during meetings and find myself forgetting completely about keeping tabs as to my reactions and relationships with my team mates. During the next class meeting as well as group meeting I plan on having a notebook out with a goal of writing three questions regarding the intentions, message or logic behind the communications I have with my team mates in order to gain more clarity when communicating.

One last point I wish to work on is preparation, continually the Quack Pack has been ill prepared for class and we have scrambled in order to be perceived as prepared. I blame myself as team leader for being ill prepared, and believe this behavior to not be becoming of a leader therefor I’m not modeling the way as I would like. I plan on printing out all the documents that we post on Wiggio or Google docs and making sure to bring them to class so no matter if someone forgets to bring their computer we will be prepared for class.
