Unit 2 Objective:
- Become familiar with the basic relationship of human values to psychological and philosophical endeavors
- Understand that values are formed from external and internal drives of an individual
- Explore one’s own value system

1 reflection on the piece of work:
I chose the discussion post from reading “A question of Values: Six ways we make the Personal Choices that Shape Our Live” by Lewis H. as my artifact to show that I have met one of the objectives listed above. Lewis H was able to separate my personal values into a system. They were either sense experience, deductive logic, emotion, intuition, authority, or science. I was able to explore my own values and find that many of my top values fell in emotion and intuition. These values have a very close relationship to psychological and philosophical endeavors. For example my value of Family. This has everything to do with how I feel. I was not told by anybody else to feel the way I do and how strongly to feel about them. It is all in my mind. I can’t even express how much I care for my family. They also are my external drive to accomplish my goals as a person such as my education.
Lewis H also helped me lay out my values and really decide what the most important ones were and why.
This is My Boyfriend Dylan and I at the Coast. We have been together for 6 years.
He is my Family. My top value.
This is my dog Bear and I. He is also my family. He is my fur kid. He loves me unconditionally
and helps me understand the value of patience, forgiveness, and unconditional love.
And this is my boyfriends family who are just as much my family as they are his.
They are some external drivers to my personal values and help shape the way I am.
Future Goals:
I hope I can continue to take a closer look at my personal values and understand more about why they are important to me. I would also want to come back to the Values Assessment every year or so to see if any have changed. Is it for the Better? Worse? Am I influenced by more people or is it a natural growth of values being changed?
