Saving the Sierra Crashed?

Is anybody else finding the Saving the Sierra site crashed? I’ve been trying since last night to get on it. Same thing happened with one of the projects last week for Kessler’s class. Just wondering if I’m catching things at inopportune times or if my PC is still stuck in 2003.

Week 7 – Helen De Michiel Interview with jesikah m. ross

As I promised, I interviewed jesikah maria ross today. We began by discussing the origins of “Saving the Sierra,” in 2006, and how she and co-creator radio producer Catherine Stifter pioneered transmedia before there was a name for it, and thus began a completely unique community engagement process using media among the Sierra communities.

The technology beast — BBC News

I just wanted to post this article that I found very relevant to some of our discussions:

The companies bringing inanimate objects to life

By Michael Millar Business reporter

It seems unlikely that Dr Frankenstein’s monster-making antics would shock people today in quite the same way they did when his story was published in […]

Week 6- Helen De Michiel – Participatory Media in a Nutshell

In his NY Times review of Smarter than You Think by Clive Thompson (November 3), Walter Isaacson writes:

Thompson also celebrates the fact that digital tools and networks are allowing us to share ideas with others as never before. It’s easy (and not altogether incorrect) to denigrate much of the blathering that occurs each day […]

Week 6 De Lyser: Localore: Project Takeaway

Localore.net represents a great partnership between digital and broadcast media. Though I don’t identify with children since I don’t have kids or young relatives who live here, I am still interested in this awesome project and what it gives to the community. The Concept and […]

Week 5 public post: Natalie Bennon

Democracy.

That is the theme I seem to return to frequently in my posts. After compiling all my posts into one document and reading through them, I think the theme for my paper will be democracy.

Spreadable Media relates to democracy because, just as in a strong democracy, the power is decentralized. The communication is […]

Week 5 – Jerry Makare – Mid-Term Review

I can honestly say I have no idea how 5 weeks have gone by so quickly. I feel like it should still be week 2!

For my midterm paper I intend to take more of a look into the concepts of spreadability and stickiness. The concepts themselves are fairly simple, but I would like to […]

Week 5: Katelyn Black

Although I had originally thought I was going to take this time to talk about my midterm paper and get feed back from some of you as to what your thoughts on the topic I chose were, however, after taking a deeper look into the Lunch Love Community Project, I was so deeply touched with […]

Digital Fundraising = Mo Money? What do you think?

Hi class, Has anyone ever heard of The Urgency Network? I just ran across their web site. See it, here. It’s a media/PR/art house/good karma inducing service who’s mission is to create ‘an online platform connecting nonprofits, musicians, celebrities, fans and brands in a single online community to create positive impact on a global scale.’
