Welcome Baby Harper! And the UO email system…

Jamie just wrote and I will share!

“Well your prediction came true – I was exactly two weeks early from my due date. On November 13, 2013, at 10:18 p.m., I gave birth to a Ms. Harper Ann Bourcier.

We’ve been home since last Friday and took the weekend to adjust. I will finish the term and I hope to be at class on December 7.”

Hip, hip hurray for new Mom Jamie and Baby Harper!  (Hey Natalie and Melissa, let us other Moms take a pause to remember and savor those first few days of the first newborn…)

I am hoping that Jamie will see this and get all excited about coming to the final class on December 7!

Oh, multitasking…  Switching gears now: as you may realize the University of Oregon email/webmail system is way down, if not out at this point.  I called them on the phone today and they said, “IT is working on it, and yes, it is down,” with no estimates about when it will be standardly functional again.

So…I have slowly been able to work through your papers when I can retrieve them (I have a system, trust me, that involves email) and then upload my attached commentary to send back to you.  Sometimes, I cannot even get into email when I have time blocked out for this work.  I am doing the best I can under the circumstances.  As they said to me, “We’re sorry for the inconvenience…” So it is really a hassle also answering your individual emails, but please know I am reading them and will respond as possible within the system, be it as it is. If I see something that is super time-sensitive I will respond form my own personal email.

Yay! I hope you make it on Dec 7. If I am healthy, I would love to hold her. And may nursing and sleeping be a breeze for both you and Harper. I do get weepy about babies and not having any more of them… I mean, if someone built a time machine, I think moms would pay a mint to go back for like 20 minutes at a time to hold or nurse their infants. And then come back to the present day before the kid starts wailing….
