Dexter Lake: Dexter Reservoir

DL1

A view of Dexter Lake on August 9, 2015 just as the sun began to shine through the dense clouds. The air was still humid, yet the sun was covered for most of the day, making it a little chilly when swimming in the water.

Eugene summers have been a scorcher recently, and floating the river doesn’t provide us with that same cool sensation as jumping into an enormous body of water.

This hidden lake has a few docks surrounding it, and is pretty empty on the weekdays, which is perfect for students who need a chance to relax and cool down.

It’s a short 25 minute drive away from campus, and a great place for a group of friends to swim around and hang out at.

One of my friends who was born and raised in Eugene took me to this secret spot recently this summer. It was not crowded, and I was able to enjoy myself and cool down without dealing with hundreds of rocks and pebbles under my feet (yes I am referring to the river once again).

Although it was cloudy the day I went, when Eugene hits 90+ during the early summer, this lake is a perfect location for a group of friends to enjoy themselves and forget they are in Eugene for school.
