This photo was taken by Mallory Archer after reaching the top of the hiking trail. The deep blue color is due to the purity of the water, which comes directly from rain and snowfall.

Crater Lake…what a beautiful location. This National Park truly takes your breath away. The water is so clear and the hike is completely worth your time.

You can look at countless photos and have an idea of what the park looks like, but when you are standing at the top looking over the circular deep blue lake, your jaw automatically drops.

The lake is about two hours away from Eugene, plus some hiking to get to the top, but it is worth the day trip. You can also choose to camp out and stay the night for a pretty decent price. There are also lodges to stay at, but if you go in the summertime, camping out is relaxing and fun with an group of friends!
