What I Want From Writing For Multimedia
I have enjoyed the first five weeks of writing for multimedia, it has covered not only different forms of media but different platforms that display it. This includes blogs, professional video websites such as Mediastorm and hard new websites.
I was surprised to learn how writing and content can differ over platforms and even within platforms. The blog analysis particularly taught me how the way you write and the content you produce can drastically change not only the feel and audience of a blog but how many people will read it.
One of the most significant things I have learnt was how to write for an online news publication from Dan Morrison. The skills and processes he was talking about will be vital to gaining a job in the industry and if I can master them it may give me an advantage.
That is just one of the things I would like to master, another is sound. I didn’t realise how important sound was after watching professional videos because the sound is done well in those videos. However after completing the team project where the sound was not done to the same level, the importance of sound became very clear. I will be able to work on this in upcoming assignments.
The final skill that I would like to master is editing. I enjoy editing even though it can be frustrating at times. Not only is it another skill that will look good on my resume but it would allow me to shoot write, edit and fully produce a piece of multimedia by myself. This will expand my horizons and allow me to cover any subject that I want because I have the skills to do so. That is what I want from this subject.
