Dear Grandma Shirley,

Dear Grandma Shirley, (FX: typewriter)

I miss you. I miss hearing your voice and your cute British accent.

Normally I would give you a call to check in, but this time is different because I know how much letters mean to you.

Hearing your love stories and reading the letters you and grandpa sent back and forth to each other during the war, is inspiring and has made me appreciate your letters even more.

I miss your handwriting.

I miss the sound your slippers make when you shuffle across the floor.

I wish I could be at your house drinking English tea with you right now.

I know the past few years have been really tough on our family, especially you.

I know Aunt Kim is trying to get over her alcoholism and has had many slip-ups, but this time I really believe and have a good feeling things will be better.

You are the strongest woman I know, but sometimes I worry that all of this stress is going to affect your health.

I can only hope that Kim gets better that was you can spend the rest of your time left happy and without worry.

You are my inspiration.

I love that we share a love for writing. I feel like that’s what brings us so close.

I can’t fathom what life would be like without you.

You are so caring and deserve the best in this world.

I want you to know, that even though us grand kids are away at college, we still support each other and think about the family every single day. You are the rock and heart of our family and we love you so much.

Love you gram,

XOXO
