Week 4 Update!

Dearest Peer Mentors!!!
Here’s your Week 4 Update from Sharece! 🙂
First, thanks for a great meeting this Wednesday! It was super fun and folks brought a lot of energy to the activities, which was great! We’ll try to keep the energy up for all future meetings!
Next, the meeting OIA was going to have for Muslim students on Monday has been postponed. The Register Guard article that prompted the meeting is here: http://registerguard.com/rg/news/local/36028956-75/story.csp#
Ritu Roy, (ritu@uoregon.edu) our guest from Wednesday, asked that I share with you about the Red Zone on campus in front of Knight Library. If you’re interested in learning more about it, please take time to do so!
Xinpei has organized for the peer mentors to table at coffee hour this week from 3:45-6:15 PM. The students who volunteered so far are Michaela, Remi, Mina, possibly Kearney, and Xinpei. If any of you can make it, please join!
We are tentatively planning to have a Bday Party/Game Night in the Mills on November 1, 2017. This gives us one more chance to invite our mentors for an event and connect before the educational event during International Education Week.
If you missed the meeting this Wednesday, please fill out this form for me with important information about you!
Best,
Sharece!

Peace Corps Info Session!

Hi Peer Mentors!

For those of you peer mentors known as “domestic students,” there is an awesome Info Session coming up next Wednesday, October 18, 2017 from 6:00-7:30 PM in McKenzie hall Room 373! You’ll have a chance to learn about agriculture and environmental positions in West Africa! Unfortunately, this is the same time as our peer mentor meeting for next week. However, if you’re interest and email me THIS WEEK to let me know you want to go to it, you can miss the first part of our meeting! Let me know by Friday if you’re planning to go to this!

Best,

IPMP Updates – Week 3!

Hi Peer Mentors!
I hope you had a great weekend!
As promised, the IPMP webpage has been updated with a link specifically for mentors. The link takes you straight to the website I update with program updates and information! Yay!
Our meetings next three meetings will have a bit more structure. This means that I will send out agendas prior to the meetings. Please expect to always show up ready to talk about when/if you met with your mentees. And, be ready to learn AND connect with other mentors!
I’ve noticed that we tend to create cliques within the mentor program, which is entirely natural. However, I really want us to do more work to get to know other members of the team! So… I want to offer you all the chance to help come up with games and mixer-type events to get people to know one another better! Please send me suggestions and be ready to help facilitate at the meetings!
Also, it has been great to meet with some of you 1-1 so far this term. If you haven’t had a 1-1 with me yet, please email me so we can set up a time!
Lastly, our Welcome Party is this Wednesday from 6:30-8:30 PM in the Mills! If you’re able to show up at six to help set up, please do! We will need to put out the food and beverages for students to consume!
As always, please email me if you have any questions! The Peer Mentor has been updated as email changes have come up so please check it to see if it’s all good for you!
I look forward to seeing you all soon!
Best,
Sharece M. Bunn
