New international students arriving for the first time in this country sometimes experience culture shock, homesickness and may find it hard to make friends or get involved with campus life. In response to these challenges, Peer Mentors are committed to spending quality time with new students. Data indicates that new students who connect early with other students on campus have a more positive, rich college experience. This is the most important responsibility that peer mentors have: becoming a friend. Some ways that mentors build relationships with new students are by going on hikes, going to dinners, getting coffee, going ice skating or bowling, or just talking on WeChat and other social media. They answer questions while helping new students get comfortable in their new environment. Peer Mentors are here for YOU!
