A Personalized Interior Space
I think there are many factors that help contribute to making an interior feel like home, but I think one of the main ones is creating a space that resonates with you personally. Sure, it is important for every interior to have nice furniture, lighting, space planning, etc. that can all help to make a place feel warm and inviting. However, I think adding personal touches to a space can allow you to feel emotionally connected to your surroundings and feel truly at home, whether through family photos, artwork, books, or any other personalized touches that can be added to an interior. Home is a place for refuge and where you can showcase things that make you, you. Personalizing a space with items that mean something to you, or have a story behind them can create a sense of belonging to any interior, allowing it to feel like your home. Overall, I think there are many factors that can help to make an interior comfortable and home-like, but adding unique touches that mean something to you can make a space truly feel like your own.
I agree! While being able to choose what to be included in the ‘home’, it is equally important to have personal touches. Rearranging layout can reflect lifestyle, but individualism shows more how one’s, especially addons and modifications that were put on by one self. Personal touches, whether they’re DIY projects, or cherished mementos, infuse a space with character and warmth. It is important to make the feeling of home unique using what is readily accessible for everyone. While one may want to ‘borrow’ some scenes that were being featured on publication, they also can add on to that with their own ideas.
The images also shows some memento mori photography and other identity traces that reflects what we talked about during the lectures of how home can be a place of refuge.
