This module presents ways to help students with autism learn and communicate, including using pictures to help them understand schedules, activities and expectations. You’ll also learn about intense special interests, and how to use these interests to support learning. And you’ll learn about alternative demonstrations of learning, and why they are appropriate for many students with autism.
You will learn to:
- Use pictures to help children understand language, schedules, activities and expectations.
- Use a picture exchange method to help children communicate.
- Understand intense special interests, and how to use these interests to support learning.
- Explain alternative demonstrations of learning, and why they work for many students with autism.
Pre-test
First, we are going to do a test to see how much you know about the topics in this Module. We will do the test at the beginning of the module to see what you already know, and at the end of the module to see what new information you have learned. This helps us to measure how successful this module is in training you.
