The Momentary

Location: Bentonville, AK

Architects: Wheeler Kearns Architects

Completed: 2020

“The adaptive reuse project saw the 63,000-square-foot decommissioned cheese factory into a multidisciplinary space for visual, performing, and culinary artists.” The Momentary’s aim was creating a space offering a unique experience unlike a traditional museum. “The focus was on designing a cultural hub with engaging indoor and outdoor areas that would expand the cultural experiences in Bentonville and bring artists from around the world to the region. The Momentary purposefully overlaps social, performance, and culinary activities with art spaces to champion contemporary art’s role in everyday life.”

Harvard University's Artlab

Location: Cambridge, MA

Architects: Barkow Leibinger

Completed: 2019

“The building, a one-story “pinwheel-like” plan, consists of a series of studios, workshops, and media spaces that surround a common “Hub” space. The Hub, which can be opened and closed by a series of four large sliding partitions, enables performances and exhibitions, cultivating interactivity at the ArtLab’s center. Surrounding spaces provide recording studios, sound-editing stations, and rooms for rehearsal, improvisation, and informal performance. The ArtLab encourages and expands participants’ engagement with interdisciplinary arts-practice research, serving as a collaborative activator for the school and the greater Allston and Cambridge neighborhoods.”

J1M5 Boutique

Location: Qingdao, China

Architects: Various Associates

Completed: 2020

“The design well fits into the definition of multi-brand boutique. Multiple suitcases imply the combination of various brands, and form distinctive structural languages in the space. The main goal was to create a spatial construction that’s as movable and flexible as suitcase, so that the overall layout can be adjusted at any time.
Cabinets are made capable of rotating 360 degrees at horizontal level. Therefore, adjustment of a single structure will lead to the change of the entire space. Each combination of structures is a new presentation of functions and visual effects.”

Blu Dot Furniture Showroom

Location: Portland, OR

Architects: Waechter Architecture

Completed: 2020

“At the start of the project, the existing space was a mixture of historic features and an eclectic set of additions. While the building had a clear underlying organization, characteristic of pre-war warehouse structures, a series of renovations over its lifetime had complicated this clarity, dividing the interior space, and disrupting the logic of the exterior. Rather than try and compete with or overwrite the old, our intervention instead attempted to work in concert with the building strategically, creating clear elements that together could bring to light the building’s framework.”

The Coven Coworking Office

Location: Saint Paul, MN

Architects: Studio BV

Completed: 2020

“The Coven is a co-working space for women and those who identify as non-binary. The goal for the design of their flagship location in St. Paul, Minnesota was to transform a dark, historic space into a bright and warm space that encourages women’s empowerment and sets a strong foundation for the future. The goal of the design was to empower those that inhabit the space and create a sense of community and equity.”

Ponyo en el Garaje Office

Location: Madrid, Spain

Architects: Fast&Furious Production

Completed: 2020

A garage turned vibrant and multi-functional office space and TV set.

“The project is executed with a palette of eighteen colours and a catalogue of eighteen spatial situations that serve as the backdrop for the recordings. The space has twenty-one professional cameras placed in attractive settings and ready to broadcast live content in HI-Res. Even inside the car now known as the ‘Media Taxi’.”

Rustic

Bring together natural materials to create layers of texture and tone. Reclaimed and recycled materials can have large scale impact on a space.

Warm Neutrals

Clean, simple, and effective! Warm, neutral materials offer a clean backdrop for art pieces, colorful furniture, and beautiful objects.

Desert Sun

Warm, soft, and monochrome. Taking colors from sunsets, sandscapes, and desert heat can bring the outside into a space. Combined with soft textures and natural elements like stone and metal tie together the spectrum of warm colors.
