HOMELINESS: RESOURCE CENTER AND SHELTER
Eugene OR
The lack of affordable housing options and increasing housing costs, as well as declining rates of available job opportunities, and negative impacts of substance abuse and mental health issues have caused a drastic increase in the number of people living without any type of shelter overhead or place to call home. Providing additional systematic support, which includes single and multi/family transitional residential units, career guidance and life counseling, realtor for affordable housing options, and resources like hygiene care and a warm meal, will give the homeless population the opportunity to reinstate themselves back into the community and secure a foothold toward a more comfortable and independent lifestyle. Creating ‘Homeliness’ will achieve the hierarchy of needs of safety and security by providing transitional housing and shelter, feeling of belonging by being reconeected and part of the community, and improved self esteem by providing the resources and support through counseling and guidance.
