National Outdoor Leadership School
Through NOLS, students can participate in outdoor trips around the world, from one week to several months. Courses focus on different skills and can be counted as college credit with scholarships available. Applications require a $65 non-refundable fee and basic information.
Co-curricular
The Center for Women’s Leadership offers New Leadership Oregon. New Leadership Oregon runs a cross–sector inclusive women-centered leadership program to educate and inspire a new generation of women leaders. This program is open to any women enrolled in an Oregon university and runs for five days at Portland State University at the end of June. Applications are due in February.

Emerging Leaders (EL) is dedicated to improving racial and cultural diversity at the leadership level in Portland-area companies by providing pathways to leadership for traditional and non-traditional students of color and aspiring professionals. In order to apply, you must have completed one year of coursework at a college. There are internships available in almost every field; after applying, you can be invited to mock and company interviews and then companies can extend offers. Applications open in November and are due at the end of January.
